MANILA -- Michael V. has confirmed that as discussed with TV5 chief entertainment content officer, Wilma V. Galvante, he will host a new game show with the Kapatid network.

The celebrated comedian also known as Bitoy clarified that it does not necessarily mean that he’s altogether leaving GMA Network like bosom buddy Ogie Alcasid recently did.

“Ang dami ngang nagsasabi, ‘O, lilipat ka na rin sa TV5’ and I said no, hindi ako lilipat. I’ll be doing a show for TV5 just like Vic Sotto did, just like Joey De Leon did,” he pointed out.

Joking that having a show outside of his home network is a step towards “global domination” and recalled the time when he had simultaneous shows in both ABS-CBN (“Ready Get Set Go”) and the then ABC5 (“Tropang Trumpo”) prior to his transfer to GMA for “Bubble Gang”.

Bitoy added that since he has yet to sign his contract, he still doesn’t know the details behind his upcoming game show. But he is happy that working with TV5 will also allow him to work with Ogie.

“Ah, yes, puwede siyang mag-guest sa show ko dun and pwede rin naman akong mag-guest sa show niya. Basta ang requirement or condition lang naman sa akin ng GMA for my show on TV5 is not the same format, not the same time slot as my other shows. Game show, wala ako. If it airs on a Saturday, great. Friday naman yung ‘Bubble Gang’ and Sunday naman ‘yung ‘Pepito Manaloto’ so okay lang.”

Ogie is not the only Kapatid talent Bitoy is looking forward to working with in the near future. He’s also eyeing “Undercover” star Derek Ramsay as a possible cast member for his upcoming filmmaking debut, “Mr. Asimmo”.

Based on one of his popular character sketches on “Bubble Gang”, Bitoy also revealed that aside from Derek, he has also written roles that would fit Marian Rivera and Dennis Trillo, whom he also wants in his new film.

Excited about “Mr. Assimo”, Bitoy said he underwent a scriptwriting workshop under Amor Olaguer where he has learned a lot of new things that he now applies to “Bubble Gang”. He explained that being a director will fulfill his desire to correctly interpret his original vision regarding the characters and sketches he writes about on the long-running gag show.

“When I write, I already have this thought in my head on how a certain sketch or segment will play it. All I have to do is type it. But more often than not, medyo kulang pa rin ang kinalabasan, like merong shot ako na gusto na hindi nagawa. I’d like to be able to do that as a director,” he admitted.

With regards to Ogie’s recent departure from GMA and “Bubble Gang”, Bitoy revealed that it is something the show, which has remained on the air for 18 years, has prepared for even while the former was still a part of it.

“Prior to his departure, ongoing na ‘yung paghahanap ng successors and even other regulars like Boy 2 Quizon and Antonio Aquitania were already given more exposure. In addition to the cast members, we also have seven writers in our creative team. Ang gagaling nilang mag-research ng materials for the show. Maraming ideas na pwedeng ibato, marami pa ring kwentong pwedeng i-expound,” he noted.

When asked about “Boy Pick-Up”, Ogie’s extremely popular sketch, Bitoy said it’s something that the show will not touch. Not just because there are many other characters the show can highlight and create but also out of respect for his friend.

“Actually, merong ginawa yung isang writer namin na segment na parang replacement for ‘Boy Pick-Up’ pero parang pareho pa rin ‘yung concept. Ang sabi ko, ‘Ano ito? Huwag ganito? Maayos namang nagpaalam ‘yung kaibigan natin’. That’s like saying na kahit wala ka, kaya naming gawin ito. Pero mali eh so tinanggal namin ‘yun,” he revealed.

“We can always create a new one, admittedly but the character is already identified with Ogie. Besides, hindi naman kailangan so ibang segment na lang.”
