Consul General Mario De Leon Jr., 18 others honored by the Knights of Rizal - USA Council

In celebration of the 155th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal, the Knights of Rizal - United States Council honored 18 Knights from various chapters for outstanding service to the Order. In his remarks, Sir Francis D. Sison, KGOR, Regional Commander for USA, said “When people - either in the course of their jobs, or in the course of their lives - enhance the well-being of the community, it is important to acknowledge their contributions in some way.

I therefore congratulate the recipients of the 2016 Circle of Excellence Award. You share a willingness to lead ... a commitment to serving your communities. You are catalysts for change in your communities, and what you are doing is nothing short of remarkable. When you volunteer your time and talent, you are making a lasting impact on those around you”.  The awardees were: Sir Armand Porto, KGOR; Sir Dr. Prospero Lim, KGOR; Sir Joaquin Cornejo, KGOR; Sir Atty. Ferdinand Suba, KCR; Sir Atty. Manuel Quintal, KCR; Sir Galicano Munar, KCR; Sir Dennis Hayes, KCR; Sir Arnold Villafuerte, M.D., M.P.H., KCR; Sir Romeo Goingo, KCR; Sir George Cometa, KCR; Sir Dr. Emilio Quines, KCR; and Sir Chris De Guzman, KCR. 

The event was also a tribute to Sir Ambassador Mario De Leon Jr., KGOR who will be leaving his post as Consul General in New York in a few months time. Sir Atty. Victor Sison, KGOR, Commander of the New Jersey Chapter, congratulated Ambassador De Leon for his over 4 decades of service to the Philippines and added that the good Ambassador raised the bar in the world of diplomacy by the manner he projects and incarnates the Philippine Republic, its ideals and goals in his persona.

Earlier, 18 illustrious gentlemen were inducted into the Order officiated by Sir Francis D. Sison, KGOR; Sir Dr. Prospero Lim, KGOR (Area Commander Eastern USA-1); Sir Atty. Victor Sison, KGOR; and Sir Ambassador Mario De Leon Jr. KGOR.

The event was held at the Ramada Newark Hotel, Newark, New Jersey last Sunday, June 19, 2016.
