International Film Festival Manhattan 2013 Showcases an Assemblage of Filipino Filmmakers

The proudly Filipino-owned International Film Festival Manhattan co-founded by filmmakers Luis Pedron and Gerry Balasta is gearing towards an exciting weekend showcasing works of international and local filmmakers. As a perennial tradition, Luis Pedron, IFFM Programmer, will be showcasing Filipino filmmakers and Filipino themed films.

Feature Narrative Film: "Lilet Never Happened" (Netherlands / Philippines) Director: Jacco Groen Starring: Sandy Talag,  Johanna ter Steege,  John Arcilla, Marife Necesito. The film: Surviving on the streets of Manila


The film Lilet Never Happened is a character driven story about Lilet, a maladjusted Filipino street-girl, struggling to survive on the streets of Manila. International social worker Claire tries to save her but this hard headed, traumatized girl thinks she can take her life in her own hands.

Filipino filmmakers have been winning at different International Film Festivals lately and IFFM has become a regular venue of quality Filipino films from both the US and the Philippines. Most of the Pinoy filmmakers listed will be attending their screening for their Q&A.
